Da Lat is beautiful all year round, but each season has its own unique charm — knowing how to choose the right time will help you have a perfect trip.

Da Lat has 2 distinct seasons

Unlike southern provinces, Da Lat enjoys a cool temperate climate year-round with 2 seasons: the dry season (months 11–4) and the rainy season (months 5–10). The average annual temperature ranges from 15–24°C.

Month by month

Months 11–1: Wild sunflower season & Tet

Months 11 are the season when yellow wild sunflowers bloom brightly across the hillsides, creating vibrant photos signature to Da Lat. In month 12–1, the sky is clear and blue, with little rain, and the weather is pleasantly chilly. This is peak tourist season — book rooms early.

Months 2–4: Ideal dry season

The weather is the most stable of the year: mild sunshine during the day (20–24°C), cold at night (12–15°C), with almost no rain. This is the perfect time for trekking, camping, and backpacking.

Months 5–10: Rainy season

Da Lat's rainy season usually brings afternoon showers (14–17h), while mornings remain sunny and beautiful. Vegetation is lush, waterfalls are full, and the air is fresh. There are fewer tourists and room rates are cheaper, but you need to bring a raincoat and an umbrella.

Months 9–10: Fog and flowers

The seasonal transition period is exceptionally beautiful when thick fog rolls in during the morning and new flower species begin to bloom. This is Da Lat's "mysterious season" — romantic and lesser-known.

Summary of advice

First-time visitors: choose months 12–3 for the best weather. Prefer romantic fog: months 9–11. Want cheap rates and fewer crowds: months 5–8. Avoid major holidays (Lunar New Year, 30/4–1/5) if you want to avoid crowds.
